She Picked the Wrong House. And the Right Cop.
Sergeant Rocco Rambone has spent enough time on the vice squad to know trouble when he sees it.
He also knows that sometimes trouble is worth taking a closer look at.
Rocco is handsome, charming and just crooked enough to have developed his own interpretation of police procedure. Around the precinct, his methods are legendary.
So is his appetite for bending the rules.
Meet B.J. Cumming
B.J. isn’t exactly a criminal mastermind.
She’s a good girl who’s made a few bad decisions, usually with a little encouragement from her friend Vinnie—a neighborhood crook who’s always got an easy way to make a few bucks.
This time, it’s supposed to be simple.
One house. Nobody home. Get in. Get out.
It might have worked, too—if Sergeant Rambone hadn’t gotten the call.
He arrives while the robbery is still in progress and catches B.J. with nowhere to run and very little explaining left to do.
Then he runs her name.
A few old charges.
A couple of previous stays in holding.
And one very current problem.
There’s an outstanding warrant for her arrest.
Rocco has everything he needs to take her in.
B.J. knows exactly where that could lead, and State Prison is one destination she’d very much like to avoid.
So by the time the holding-cell door closes behind them, they both know what each of them wants.
B.J. wants out.
Rocco might be willing to make a deal.
Unfortunately for B.J., Sergeant Rambone sets the rules.
And resisting arrest is only going to make this more interesting.
